Dental Hygiene Tip to Maintain Oral Health


Good oral hygiene is very important not just for our biting function but also for a beautiful smile. Various dental and medical problems such as gum disease, infection, bone loss, heart disease, strokes and more can be lead by poor oral hygiene. So it is necessary to maintain the good oral hygiene.

Here are some dental hygiene tips that will help you to maintain your oral health:

1.    Brushing: To maintain you oral hygiene the easiest way is to keep your teeth clean and brushing help you in it. Rough strokes of brush can make your gum bleed, so brush your teeth gently and also brush the surfaces area of the tongue and the roof of mouth which will help to remove bacteria that can cause bad breath. Brushing twice a day especially after eating food help to prevent acid build-up and change your brush once in a two month.

2.    Flossing: Flossing your teeth regularly is a good habit since it helps to clean our teeth further. Some time foods stuck between our teeth which cannot be removed by brushing or mouthwash, but flossing can remove this kind of food which helps us to maintain our oral health. Those who cannot use regular floss can use an inter-dental cleaner for flossing.

3.    Stay away from tobacco: To maintain not only the oral but also physical health, always stay away from tobacco as it can cause oral cancer, periodontal complication and other health problems. Also when you drink tea or coffee to mask the smoky breath, then it only damage your health more.

4.    Limit the amount of beverages: Beverages like soda, coffee and alcohol contain high level of phosphorous which is good for health but too much amount reduced the body’s level of calcium. And reduced level of calcium can lead to various oral problem such as tooth decay and gum disease. So choose your beverage carefully with a limited amount to maintain your oral health.

5.    Visit the dentist: Visiting your dentist two times in a year to have a professional cleaning and check up is essential to maintain your oral health. If you notice any kind of symptom like red, swollen or tender gum, sensitivity to hot or cold, bleeding gums, regular bad breath etc then immediately contact your dentist.

6.    Consume calcium and required vitamins: Calcium and vitamin D is necessary to both your teeth and bones. By eating and drinking food like milk, yogurt, broccoli, cheese, and other dairy products you can full feel the need of calcium in your body.
